Ladybird and Bumble Bee 1 Groups

Ladybird group for children aged 3 months to 2 years old and Bumble Bee 1 group for children aged 2 to 2,5 years old

Our Main Classroom is dedicated to our children aged 3 months to 2,5 years old; the upper age limit depends on our assessment of each child’s individual needs and abilities. Each age group has their own name ( Ladybird and Bumble Bee 1) and are offered differentiated activities according to their age, individual needs and abilities.  The classroom is adorned with colourful pictures, mobiles, soft toys and furnishings. This is a perfect environment for babies to start to crawl and explore their surroundings. The room also includes an independent area for older children where they can use age appropriate resources and enjoy messy play activities!

Whilst in the Ladybird group, babies begin to develop an awareness and understanding of themselves and the environment around them. From their viewpoint the world is a forever-changing object with things to touch, taste, smell, see and hear. Regular but flexible routines help our babies to gain a sense of order and anticipate events. A wide variety of experiences, which involve all the senses, encourages learning and a continued interest in their environment.

Our experienced and kind staff offer sensitive care to meet every child’s individual needs, ensuring relationships are formed to encourage a sense of well being and comfort. We work towards giving your

Both Ladybird and Bumble Bee 1 groups at Shepperton Organic Day Nursery benefit from our understanding of babies’ needs and endeavours to provide a stimulating and caring environment. There are various areas that enable a baby to grow and develop at their own pace; the room provides many activities, toys and equipment that promote a holistic approach to learning and development.

Whilst in the Bumblebee 1 group, children are of an age where they will begin to make more definitive choices for themselves; attachments are being formed and they begin to respond positively to the introduction of some useful boundaries. Communication is of great importance as children start to make that transition to a new level of independence. Bumblebee 1 group promotes these areas of development through various activities and experiences which are planned using observations and evaluations to ensure the educational opportunities correspond with the children’s needs and natural interests supported by experienced staff.

At this stage of their personal development, children become much more independent – feeding themselves, drinking from open cups, playing side-by-side with their friends and taking on a whole new approach to the ways in which they learn, develop and communicate. With this in mind, our large free flow classroom is fully equipped to support and encourage the children’s learning, including age and stage-appropriate equipment and resources, child-height furniture, sinks and role play equipment, and the opportunities to investigate and explore in more detail.

As children become more mobile new opportunities for exploration and exercise arise. A safe and interesting environment helps children to develop curiosity, co-ordination and enhance their physical abilities. As our children gain confidence they are able to take part in more structured group-activities. By knowing each child’s individual needs, our staff can monitor and tailor your child’s developmental requirements. Social interaction is always very important and we encourage the children to develop friendships, interacting with other children in this group and other groups in the nursery.
